Terms of use

Last updated

These terms apply to shaderz.fun, the Shaderz editor, gallery, documentation and the shaderz.js embed script (together, “the service”). By using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. Free to use

The service is free. There is no account, no subscription and no paid plan at this time.

2. What you can do with your backgrounds

You may use the images, videos and GIFs you export, and the backgrounds you embed with shaderz.js, for any personal or commercial purpose, including client work, products, ads, videos and websites. No attribution is required, although a link back is always appreciated.

You may not resell or redistribute the Shaderz editor itself, or present the unmodified gallery as your own product. You may not sell a Shaderz background on its own as a stock asset or template without meaningful changes.

3. The embed script

You can load shaderz.js from our domain or host a copy on your own server. We aim to keep the hosted script available and backward compatible, but we do not guarantee uptime. For critical sites we recommend self-hosting, as described in the docs.

4. Publishing to the gallery

When you publish a background, you confirm that:

  • you are allowed to share it, and its name and author name do not infringe anyone's rights;
  • the name and author name contain no personal data of others, no hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, and no spam or advertising.

You grant Shaderz and every user a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to display, remix and use the published background, its settings and thumbnail, under the same conditions as section 2. Publishing is public, so check the name before you publish. We may remove any published content at our discretion.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to:

  • break the law or the rights of others;
  • overload, scrape at high volume, probe or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
  • automate publishing or likes in bulk.

6. Accessibility and health

Animated backgrounds can cause discomfort for some people. The embed script shows a still frame to visitors who have enabled reduced motion. If you override this behavior on your site, you are responsible for that choice.

7. No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. Rendering depends on the visitor's browser and graphics hardware. Some devices may not support WebGL2, in which case a static gradient is shown.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Shaderz is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, revenue or profit arising from the use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or the rights consumers have under mandatory law.

9. Changes and termination

We may change, suspend or stop the service or these terms. When the terms change, we update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence. Disputes will be brought before the competent courts of France, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
